Message from the Vice President
A message from Dr. Bill Sheehan ’84, Executive Vice President.
Greetings from Central! I have said before and I will say it again, I am thrilled to be back in Fayette and serving our beloved institution as the Executive Vice President.
‘Central’, ‘CMC’, and ‘CMU’ hold a special place in my heart and in the hearts of tens of thousands of proud alumni and friends. For nearly 170 years, our alma mater has helped to create opportunities for students to learn and grow. We are proud of the legacy that has been created and we are grateful to those men and women who came before us.
The Advancement and Alumni Relations Office is charged with hosting events, providing institutional updates, and conducting personal meetings to ensure our alumni and friends are knowledgeable about the latest university news and information. As a private institution, the success of the university relies on the generosity of our alumni and friends. Throughout our history, many individuals and organizations have thoughtfully answered the call. We invite you to engage and support Central through your gifts of time, talent, and treasure.
Alumni of Central give to the University through their extraordinary gift of time. Thousands of hours are given in support of CMU annually by volunteers and supporters of our programs. We are truly blessed.
Other alumni and friends provide CMU with gifts of their talents. Some alumni help mentor students while others help with campus and student services throughout the year.
Finally, financial gifts to Central help us achieve our goals of providing an exceptional educational experience to our students. Currently, our top funding priorities are:
- Scholarships: One of our greatest needs and one of the best investments you can make; supporting a student’s education through annual giving or establishing an endowment directly impacts a student’s opportunity to succeed.
- Academics: CMU faculty constantly find new ways to engage students in their chosen fields and we are proud to facilitate the opportunities and encourage further development.
- Facilities: If you have not been on campus recently, I encourage you to come and visit! The University is continually improving the infrastructure and private support has been critical in the preservation and modernization of our historic facilities.
- Athletics: On and off the field, our student-athletes are developing life skills through their experiences as Eagles. Collectively, our student-athletes succeed academically in impressive fashion – representing 12 teams earning distinction as an NAIA Scholar team for the 2022-2023 academic year.
The Advancement and Alumni Relations Office believes our role in the life of Central is to cultivate relationships in a manner that strengthens the University’s future. Our goal is to engage all alumni and friends to make CMU a truly special place for learning.
